A little bit about me

For over a decade, I’ve developed a career around design for print and digital application. I've worked independently as a freelancer and collaboratively as part of close-knit teams, but always delivering high-quality artwork and experiences to all stakeholders, even under tight budgets and deadlines.

I graduated with a BA Hons Illustration from University of Portsmouth in 2011. Since then, my creative journey has spanned projects involving product design, web design, branding, identity, marketing, and advertising.

My curiosity and desire to learn doesn't just stop at design, either. I am a auto-didactic learner, practicing front-end development outside business hours. This portfolio is a single place to showcase all disciplines.

What would an emoticon language inspired by TASSIMO's coffee pod design look like? I explored this idea...

Tatanka – Bespoke Carpentry & Joinery

Local carpentry business BR Property Developments had dissolved and were in need of a new look. They came to me for a brand new identity using their new company name, ‘TATANKA’, the Lakota word for ‘bison’.

South Saxons Hockey Club – 125 year anniversary

A graphic identity celebrating Hastings’ Hockey team the South Saxons reaching their 125 year anniversary. I wanted to design a contemporary identity that was bold and energetic, and that stretched the boundaries of what the identity could do if given the chance to break out using some imagination.

Live Project:

StitchKeeper – The Knitting & Stitch Tracker App

My wife likes to knit, but doesn't like to drop a stitch. She needs a tool to help her keep track of her progress during a knitting session and when she returns after time away. I aim to build a simple web app utilising the device's local storage to save her progress.

InDesign Extension - Brand guidelines Colour Code Layout

Unless you've designed brand guidelines before, you can't understand the unnecessary labour it takes to create colour palettes by copying codes from a modal, closing the modal, pasting the text into a frame, opening the modal for the next colour, and so on. Why is it so painful Adobe! I take things into my own hands with this script I developed...

Live / In Progress Project:

Mindforge 40k – A Warhammer 40k memory training app

I'm an avid tabletop gamer, but I currently don't dedicate enough time to playing because I'm too busy learning to code! This creates a problem when it comes round to 'throwing dice' because I can never recall my army rules and stats quickly or efficiently enough, making every game last twice as long (much to my opponent's dismay). This is where the idea for this app came from; what is essentially a quiz / flashcard app in order to help with memory recall and reduce time spent swiping through pages looking for rules.

InDesign Script - Colour Swatch Value Grabber

Unless you've designed brand guidelines in InDesign before, you'll find it hard to understand the unnecessary labour it takes to create colour palettes by copying codes from a colour popup modal, closing the modal, pasting the text into a frame, opening the modal for the next colour, and so on. Why is it so painful Adobe! So I'm taking things into my own hands...

In Progress Project:

NameNest – A name sharing and voting app for new parents

Deciding on a name for a child is difficult – both parents have their likes and their dislikes, meaning that alignment isn't always easy. This app aims to store and list desired names in popularity order by offering the users a function to up or down vote their favourite names. This way, names that resonate with both parents float to the top and the disliked names are pushed to the bottom.

Future Project:

MGS1 Codec website theme

"This is Snake. Colonel, do you read me?..."

Growing up I loved the games, and the original's design aesthetic for the codec gets me right in the nostalgia. I wonder what a website theme might look like?...
